Neurological conditions: report

About 2.2 million people in Australia – or one in 12 people – were living with a long-term neurological condition in 2022, with migraine being the most common, affecting 1.7 million people, according to a new Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report. Neurological Conditions in Australia found there were almost 365,000 hospitalisations and over 132,000 emergency department presentations due to neurological conditions in 2023-24, and that 60% of people in permanent residential aged care had a neurological condition affecting their care.
