Abstract
A young overseas student found floating face down in the surf is successfully resuscitated.
Key Points

    Oceans, lakes, rivers and backyard pools are part of the Australian way of life, and over 80% of the population live near the coast. Unfortunately, the number of drowning deaths per year is increasing. Certain groups have an increased risk, as shown in Table 1.
