Cancer outcomes improving

Cancer survival rates have improved over three decades as mortality rates decline, finds a new Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report. Cancer Data in Australia found the five-year relative survival rate for cancer increased from 50 to 72% between 1987–1991 and 2017–2021. The age-standardised cancer mortality rate decreased from 257 to an estimated 194 deaths per 100,000 people between 2000 and 2025.
