Benign skin lesions – Part 1. Some common skin lesions in general practice

This three-part article will discuss a variety of benign skin lesions, some very common and others seen only occasionally, covering aetiology, important clinical issues and management. It is intended to be a broad, but not comprehensive, guide to the various ‘lumps and bumps’ that may be encountered in general practice. Part 1 of this article will cover a variety of benign skin lesions. Subsequent parts, to be published in future issues of Medicine Today, will cover melanocytic lesions (Part 2) and vascular, dermal and adnexal tumours (Part 3).
